Places to Visit

The National Lobster Hatchery

Padstow

Visit the awe inspiring National Lobster Hatchery and experience pioneering marine conservation in action on the beautiful Camel estuary in Padstow and be inspired to do your bit to help sustain our native marine species and coastal communities.  The NLH is an award winning visitor centre, where you can meet and get up close to rarely seen lobster babies, pregnant lobster mamas and sometimes even giant lobsters and rare colour morphs as well as other weird and wonderful coastal creatures.  You can see first-hand our innovative Lobster Raise and Release programme as seen on TV and you can even adopt a baby lobster and follow its progress as it’s released into the ocean.

The National Lobster Hatchery is recognised worldwide as a Centre of Excellence. Its passionate team of ‘Lobster Nerds’ and conservationists are working hard to solve the problems of sustainability faced by coastal fisheries and to put innovative techniques and measures in place to help conserve fragile lobster populations. Catch a glimpse of what’s happening at the forefront of marine conservation and sustainability issues with a visit to this unique and inspiring Padstow attraction. It’s fun for all the family in all weather, and the best news is you can now enjoy even more family fun with our brand new upstairs development, complete with engaging new interactive activities and exhibits to entertain children (and adults!) alike! You can even experience a rare insight into the evolution of lobsters with an awe-inspiring collection of crustacean fossils dating back to around 500 million years ago!

Every penny you pay during your visit will help the NLH continue its important work to create future safeguards for our vital yet vulnerable marine resources and the many livelihoods they support
